Health effects of noise

The effects of environmental noise on human health have been highlighted in two new reports.rnThe first report, Estimating Dose-Response Relationships between Noise Exposure and Human Health in the UK, found statistical associations between environmental noise and several health effects, namely: coronary heart disease; sleep disturbances; cognitive development; and hearing impairment.rnThe effect on cardiovascular health, which echoes the findings of previous research into a link between exposure to noise in an occupational setting and the likelihood of workers developing cardiovascular disease, is believed to relate to the effect acute noise exposure has on blood pressure.
