Drink Driving Figures Are Cause For Concern

RoSPA has reiterated its call for a reduction in the legal alcohol limit for drivers after figures released by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) revealed that there was an 11 per cent increase in under-25s failing breath tests over the 2008 Christmas period. The Society has been campaigning for many years for a reduction in the legal alcohol limit and says that lowering the limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg perrn100ml would save around 65 lives and 230 serious injuries on Britain's roads each year.rnDrivers with between 50mg and 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood are two to two-and-a-half times more likely to be involved in an accident and six times more likely to be in a fatal crash than a driver with no alcohol in their system.
