OH audit highlights communication concerns

New guidance for occupational health professionals on what constitutes best practice in communicating with an employee following a consultation should be developed, the research team behind an audit of occupational health care in the NHS in England has recommended. The audit, commissioned by NHS Plus and conducted by the Health and Work Development Unit at the Royal College of Physicians, examined occupational health care for NHS staff on long-term sickness absence and, in particular, how good OH staff are in assessing depression in the long-term sick (over four weeks absence).
