Review examines farm E.coli outbreaks

A review of outbreaks of gastrointestinal disease linked to petting farms (open farms) in England and Wales has identified 55 outbreaks between 1992 and 2009. These outbreaks led to 1,328 people becoming infected, of whom 113 were hospitalised. Illness ranged from mild through to severe diarrhoea and occasionally more serious conditions.
