Changes to major hazard legislation proposed

Revised legislation to strengthen rules on the control of major accident hazards involving chemicals has been drawn up by the European Commission. The Seveso II Directive, which is implemented in Great Britain through the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations (CoMAH), needs to be revised to align the classification of dangerous substances covered by it with those set out in the new classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures regulations (CLP).
