摘要

Cabin crew members are no more likely to develop radiation-related cancers than the rest of the population, despite belonging to an occupational group with one of the highest exposures to ionising radiation and shift work, a large international study has found. Overall, researchers found that mortality was much lower in both male and female cabin crews compared with the general population. The mortality from radiation-related cancers was also reduced in male cockpit crew, but not in male or female cabin crews. The mortality rate from female breast cancer, brain cancer and leukaemia was similar to the rate found in the general population, but the mortality rate from aircraft accidents was very high, as was that from AIDS in male cabin crew.
