The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) is a voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry. Electricians register with the organisation and are assessed to check their work against a range of standards. The NICEIC website has areas specifically aimed at electricians and at the public, with users able to search for a registered contractor in their area by entering their postcode. There is also a section of guidance on electrical hazards and building regulations, a 'jargon buster', a series of free factsheets and a 'wall of shame', listing firms which falsely claim to be registered.
