According to the Government, there are 7.6 million people of working age in the UK that have a disability. Its Disability Confident scheme is designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions and so far, the Government claims that over 12,000 organisations have signed up. Employers interested in the scheme can join online and access a list of businesses already involved. There is also in-depth guidance on the business case for signing up, plus what exactly the scheme involves including its three levels of achievement. Visitors to the website can view government guidance on employing disabled people and people with health conditions too, with case studies and links to useful resources.
