HSE urged to review its 'risk appetite'

The Tailored Review of HSE by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) also call on the Cabinet Office and Treasury to "consider the potential impact of uncertain cost recovery" on HSE's budget to avoid the danger of "perverse incentives that could undermine the achievement of core regulatory objectives". The review, which is a periodic evaluation designed to provide assurance and challenge the continuing need, efficiency and effectiveness of public bodies, found that all of the functions of HSE are currently required to contribute to the central aim of preventing death, injury and ill health in Britain's workplaces and that its current form is the "most appropriate" for its functions.
