摘要

UK workers took 172 million days off work because of illness in 2007, but 12%, or 21 million days, was non-genuine, according to the latest annual absence survey from the CBI.The data also reveals that long-term absence is a serious concern to employers. 'Everyone agrees that sick people need time off work. But employers face two serious and expensive challenges - dealing with bogus sick days, and helping those with long-term illness return to work when they are fit to do so,' commented Susan Anderson, CBI director of human resources policy.
