Research by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in Scotland has found that many apprenticeship schemes are excluding women and disabled people. The EHRC examined the Scottish government's flagship training programme, Modern Apprenticeships, and discovered that: 1. disabled people take up less than 0.5% of all apprenticeship places 2. gender segregation in apprenticeships remains unacceptably high, with less than 2% of engineering or construction placements going to women 3. ethnic minorities also have poor access - less than 2% of all.
