It seems like only yesterday, but it was actually 90 years ago (November 2, 1920) when the first commercial radio station went on the air. An experimental version had actually existed in Westinghouse engineer Frank Conrad's garage since 1916 as amateur station 8XK, but it was eventually moved to a shed atop the K Building of the Westinghouse East Pittsburgh works and licensed as KDKA.
