If you or your company is in the electronics manufacturing business, you're probably aware of the worldwide semiconductor shortage. Apparently, the economic slowdown coupled with a recent increase in demand for consumer electronics caught suppliers off guard. The shortage is especially acute in power management semiconductors which are used in just about everything. As a result, electronics manufacturers are scrambling to develop workarounds, consumers are paying more for some items, and many electronics enthusiasts are simply out of luck.
