In 1918, Panasonic Corp. was founded by Konosuke Matsushita as a vendor of lamp sockets, and since then has grown to become one of the 20 largest electronics companies in the world. For years, several of the company's products could be found in the average American's home at any given time, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Panasonic reportedly suffered a January-to-March quarterly loss of $5 billion to bring the fiscal year total to $9.6 billion in the red. This is a stunning reversal from the previous year's $920 million profit.
