As the Senate Appropriations Committee provided support for President Obama's nuclear security agenda last week, approving a version of the Fiscal Year 2011 Energy and Water Appropriations Act that includes a $475.5 million boost for the National Nuclear Security Administration's nonproliferation work, it also included language tasking the agency to update Congress on its progress in securingrnvulnerable nuclear material around the world in the next four years. The Obama Administration has made securing vulnerable nuclear weapons material around the world by 2013 one of its top priorities, but while Congress has been supportive of the goal, it has also registered concern about the large funding increase expected for the agency and whether it can spend all the money it's receiving.
