AT OAK RIDGE...............................'BEAR CREEK BYPASS' COMPLETED

A new "Bear Creek Bypass" opened this week at the Y-12 National Security Complex, rerouting the plant's main access and diverting traffic away from the high-security uranium operations. B&W Y-12, the government's managing contractor at Y-12, announced that the bypass opened to traffic April 18. The bypass is north of the Jack Case Center and east of Bear Creek Portal parking lot. The work was done by Stein Construction Co. Inc. of Chattanooga in what is apparently the first phase of what's expected to be about a $10 million project.
