An ex-Sandia National Laboratories employee who racked up fraudulent charges of thousands of dollars or more on hiscompany credit card is trying to stay out of prison, according to a sentencing memo filed before Thanksgiving.“If sentenced to pay a fine and be placed on probation for a period of five years, Mr. [Joshua] Cordova can immediatelypay the fine and begin making substantial payments toward his restitution obligation,” Cordova’s attorneys wrote in thememo. “If sentenced to prison, however, Mr. Cordova will be unable to make restitution payments during his incarceration,and he will have to start rebuilding his career and life from scratch upon his release.”
