The U.S. Transportation Department (DoT) plans to review a proposed 300-mile railroad line that will bring high-level radioactive waste to the planned federal repository at Nevada's Yucca Mountain.rnThe U.S. Energy Department (DoE) has applied to build and operate the line in Nevada. The so-called Caliente Line would connect an existing rail line near Caliente, Nev., to the proposed geologic repository in Nye County, Nev., for which DoE expects to submit a license application this summer.
