Holtec to Develop Waste Transport Cask for Swedish Nuclear Plants

Holtec International has announced a contract to design and manufacture casks for moving waste from Swedish nuclear plants to storage facilities off site. The contract is with the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB), which hired Holtec to design transport casks for spent fuel last year. The company did not disclose the value of the latest contract. It will provision International Atomic Energy Agency Type B transport casks for operational and decommissioning waste. Florida-headquartered Holtec plans to license the cask in both Sweden and the United States.
