1. What is the application of cellular technology in HF Controls' current offerings? HF Controls Corporation produces safety I&C (Instrumentation and Controls) for nuclear power plant and cellular technology including wire-less communication is prohibited for use in the system itself because of the safety and security concern. However, some of hardware components such as Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) used for telecom in-dustry are used for our products inter-nally. Additionally, HF Controls automatic test tools (machines) for validating HF Controls safety and non-safety systems have been using wire-less technology for ease of mobility of the test machines, which make a large control systems with more than 10,000 I/O points acceptance test efficient. The automatic test machines are specifically designed and configured with proprietary communication protocol to ensure the security and integrity of the test data being transmitted between the test machines and the target system. Furthermore, the test data gathered by the test machines are evaluated, analyzed and verified by engineers who did not participate in the test execution to ensure that the test machines themselves would not mask any errors that the test machines as a tool may introduce.
