WORK HAS BEGUN ON THE FIRST OF FOUR API000 REACTORS

Work has begun on the first of four api000 reactorsrnto be built in China. On April 19, a ceremony was held at the Sanmen site in Zhejiang Province to celebrate the completion of the initial pour of concrete for the reactor island basemat. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking government and industry officials. Westinghouse and its consortium partner, the Shaw Group, in July 2007 signed the final contracts with a group of companies led by China's State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation for two API000s at Sanmen and two additional units to be built at Haiyang, in Shandong Province.
