Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste: Technological Implications for Retrievability, IAEA Nuclear Energy Series No. NW-T-1.19. In light of new technical advances in waste management and materials technologies, as well as changing social, economic, and political conditions, this publication analyzes the concepts that are currently being developed for the retrieval of emplaced nuclear waste packages and explores the technological provisions that should be incorporated into the design, construction, operational, and closure stages of a geological nuclear waste repository.
