Three house members sent a letter to energy secretary steven Chu on July 21 requesting further explanation and documentation regarding the Obama administration's decision to abandon the development of the Yucca Mountain site in Nevada as a nuclear waste repository. The letter was signed by Reps. Ralph Hall (R., Texas), ranking member of the House Science and Technology Committee; Paul Broun (R., Ga.), ranking member of the committee's Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight; and Jim Sensenbrenner (R., Wis.), senior committee member and ranking member of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
