Bill passed on nuclear material 'fingerprinting'

The U.S. House of Representatives on January 21 passed the Nuclear Forensics and Attribution Act (H.R. 730) and sent it to President Obama to be signed into law. The legislation would strengthen efforts in the Department of Homeland Security to develop techniques for "fingerprinting" nuclear material and would also encourage the president to negotiate international agreements to govern nuclear forensics activities.rnThis is the second time that the legislation has cleared the House during this Congress. The Senate made minor adjustments to the House bill, and the January 21 House vote approved the Senate's changes.
