B&W, TVA provide more details on mPower plans

In response to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's request in Regulatory Issue Summary 2011-02, "Licensing Submittal Information and Design Development Activities for Small Modular Reactor Designs," the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Babcock & Wilcox Company have provided updates to the NRC on their plans to develop and deploy the mPower reactor, a 125-MWe integrated pressurized water reactor designed by B&W. TVA informed the NRC last year that it plans to apply for a construction permit (rather than a combined construction and operating license) for up to six mPower units at the Clinch River site in Roane County, Tenn.
