U.S., Japan form nuclear cooperation working group

The governments of Japan and the United States have formed the Global Nuclear Energy Cooperation Working Group to provide a venue for the two countries to address ways to create opportunities for more countries to benefit from nuclear energy. According to Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, one of the new group's priorities will be infrastructure development, which will include assistance in human resource development and the establishment of institutions and other infrastructure necessary to ensure nuclear safety, safeguards, and security in emerging nuclear countries.
