Nuclear regulator calls for post-Fukushima upgrades

Although none of France's nuclear facilities have had to be shut down following the completion of the first set of post-Fukushima Daiichi safety assessments, the country's nuclear regulator has made it clear to the major nuclear operators-particularly Electricite de France and Areva-that they will have to spend billions of euros for safety upgrades in response to the lessons learned from the Japanese nuclear disaster.
