SRNS pledges support for historically black university

Amemorandum of understanding (MOU) between Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the primary contractor at the Savannah River Site, and Claflin University, a historically black university located in Orangeburg, S.C., was signed on October 6. The MOU provides $25,000 in funding for ten $2,500 scholarships, as well as the potential for student internships at SRS. "We are pleased to partner with SRNS and appreciate its willingness to provide financial support for our students," said Henry Tisdale, president of Claflin University, in an SRNS press release. "SRNS is recognized as a leader in the industry, and this partnership also will offer significant opportunities for the university. We look forward to ensure that our students will graduate optimally prepared for rewarding careers within SRS, as well as local industry and businesses."
