Nuclear Threat Initiative releases report on global nuclear security

The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization headed by former U.S. senator Sam Nunn, has released the second edition of the NTI Nuclear Materials Security Index, a nation-by-nation assessment of current nuclear security conditions around the world (the first edition was released in January 2012). Developed with the assistance of the Economist Intelligence Unit, the 2014 edition provides security assessments of 176 countries-25 with 1 kilogram or more of weapons-usable nuclear material, and 151 with less than 1 kg, or none.
