Disused radioactive sources in Georgia secured

On December 5, the National Nuclear Security Administration announced the successful transfer of more than 150 disused, high-radioactivity sources from Georgia's Institute of Radiobiology to a more secure storage facility. The transfer was the culmination of a two-year project with Georgia's Radiation Technology Safety Center that was implemented through a partnership consisting of the NNSAs Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, Georgia's Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, and the United Kingdom's Department of Energy and Climate Change.
