NRC issues guidance on changes to NFPA 805 use

It is fairly common for the Nuclear Energy Institute, acting on behalf of power reactor licensees, to propose to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission approaches for licensees to meet the agency's requirements. On March 2, however, the NRC turned the tables, sending the NEI what the agency called "guidance" on how licensees can complete modifications to their plants to allow the use of the performance-based fire protection regime in the National Fire Protection Association's Standard 805.
