John Kelly: From Motor City to the Capital City

In the mid-1970s, when John Kelly was an undergraduate working toward his bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan, he was in need of some spending money. So he took the only job he could find on campus: weekend janitor for his dormitory. It was, he said, not the most glamorous job. "If you have ever had to clean toilets on Saturday and Sunday mornings in a dorm, you are willing to do anything after that,"Kelly said.
