The 2017 ANS Winter Meeting, held October 29-November 2 in Washington, D.C., began with a request by ANS President Bob Coward. During the meeting's opening plenary session, Coward asked four things of his colleagues: to get involved in the development of the next generation of nuclear professionals, to challenge themselves to do more, to be proud of what they do, and, first and foremost, to be optimistic.
