The 2021 Utility Working Conference

The 2021 Utility Working Conference-the first ANS in-person meeting since before the COVID-19 pandemic and ANS's first hybrid in-person/virtual meeting ever-was a well-attended and energetic affair. Held August 7-11 in Marco Island, Fla., the UWC brought together nearly 500 in-person attendees along with 60 virtual attendees. The opening plenary session kicked off the meeting, with general chair John Elnitsky, ANS executive director/CEO Craig Piercy, and ANS President Steven Nesbit all expressing their excitement about returning to face-to-face meetings, even as COVID remains an ongoing concern. It was a feeling that most attendees shared as well, as Piercy notes in his column on page 33 of this issue; everyone seemed excited to be together again. The energy in the conference rooms and exhibit hall was truly electric.
