Nevada seeks to block Plutonium shipment

On November 30, the state of Nevada filed a lawsuit against the Department of Energy, claiming that the DOE's plan to ship one metric ton (t) of plutonium from the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, S.C., to the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), about 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas, violates the National Environmental Policy Act and other associated regulations.
