The United States International Development Finance Corp. (DFC) has pledged to support NuScale Power,a US-based small modular reactor technology firm, in its development of 2,500 Mwe of nuclear power capacity in South Africa.The South African government drafted an economic recovery plan in conjunction with business and labor groups earlier this year in a forum known as the National Economic Development and Labour Council.A version of the strategy that was discussed by the cabinet this week,and reportedly includes suggestions to secure reliable energy supply through the construction of new nuclear plants,according to Bloomberg.
