We welcome the Comment by Chen et al on our paper entitled 'Comparison of runaway dynamics in LH and ECRH heated discharges in the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade' [1]. In our paper, the behaviour of high energy MeV-runaway electrons during the flat-top phase of lower hybrid (LH) heated discharges was investigated in the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade. One of the main observations reported in this paper was the rapid drop (~100-200 ms) of the runaway electron energy and the disappearance of the MeV-runaway population (created during the current ramp-up phase of the discharge) during LH wave injection. The rapid decrease in the electron energy was attributed to the fall in the accelerating electric field (close to zero) during lower hybrid current drive (LHCD).
