UNLV NUKE PROF. LEADS CANDIDATES FOR ASST. SEC. OF NUCLEAR ENERGY

Though the Obama Administration has yet to formally nominate anyone to serve at the Department of Energy beyond Secretary Steven Chu, candidates have begun to surface for key program positions, including Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy. One leading contender appears to be Dr. Anthony Hechanova, director of the Nuclear Science & Technology Division at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, NNB Monitor has learned. Hechanova, who received his Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, directs a program that falls under UNLV's Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies and reportedly enjoys the backing of the Center's namesake-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
