An electrical fault, complicated by pump and valve problems, led to a reactor trip, safety injection and two fires at Progress Energy's 769MWe PWR HB Robinson 2 in Hartsville, South Carolina, USA in March. The event has been rated at INES level 2, 'incident.' An augmented NRC inspection team has been sent to the site, which entered a planned maintenance shutdown early as a result of the incident. The operator has said that it fully supports the NRC's work on site and characterised the incident as 'serious.'
