The other European tokamak collaboration

摘要

Demonstration of fusion ignition-the point where a fusion reaction becomes self-sustaining instead of requiring a constant input of energy-is currently a major scientific and technical challenge. Russia and Italy are collaborating on building a new fusion ignition reactor, the Ignitor tokamak at Troitsk at a fraction of the size of the global collaboration involved in the ITER tokamak in France. The project was recently promised EUR100 million of funding.
