EPR clears design approval as Hinkley G wins site licence

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency have granted design acceptance approval to the AREVA/EDF EPR reactor on 13 December. It is the first reactor to be approved in the country's five-year generic design acceptance process. Meanwhile, progress of the Westinghouse API000 reactor, which received an interim design approval, is on hold pending an order.
