Frederic Joliot & Otto Hahn Summer School

For the past decade the Frederic Joliot and Otto Hahn Summer School on Nuclear Reactors has been instrumental in educating young scientists and engineers in the field of nuclear technology. Originally an initiative by CEA, it is now run jointly by CEA and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, alternating between Cadarache and Karlsruhe. On occasion, the Summer School has organised a Special Session, in addition to the normal summer school, devoted to more specific aspects of nuclear technology. On 24-28 October 2005 such a Special Session was held at Nexia Solutions' Technology Centre at Sellafield, the subject being the back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle under the title "Irradiated Fuel Management, Waste Treatment, Recycle and Decommissioning".
