The Energy Puzzle: Problems, solutions and essential fuels

I have tried to explain why I believe that the frequently-stated assertions about how to move to a sustainable energy system - namely that we should rely mostly on changes in people's lifestyle and improved energy efficiency and must focus money and effort on the replacement of liquid fuels in transport (because it is the biggest consumer of scarce oil) - are misguided. They concentrate on the socially, economically and technically difficult instead of on the much easier task of driving conventional fossil energy out of electricity generation to the largest extent practical, using nuclear (and wind where it is truly economic and coal with carbon capture and sequestration when it becomes available) instead of gas and simple coal combustion.
