2015 has come in with a roar in my part of the country; the wind has been quite exceptional but, rather like the first shoots of the snowdrops in my garden, as I drive to work I can see the first activity on the new nuclear power station site at Moorside as NuGen carry out their detailed site survey involving numerous boreholes. Let's hope that this is a harbinger of a prosperous new nuclear future. The last few weeks of 2014 were a very busy period for the Nuclear Institute. The YGN held two highly successful seminars, one on nuclear defence and one on the UK nuclear industry response to Fukushima, as well as their annual dinner. I continue to be impressed with the professionalism of these events, the enthusiasm of the organisers and participants and the quality of the presenters. It is good to see that they are being fully subscribed.
