New report on Advanced Modular Reactor Technology released by the Nuclear Futures Institute

The Bangor University Nuclear Futures Institute has published a new report that looks into one of the nuclear technology targets covered in the government's Ten Point Plan for a green industrial revolution. The plan includes the following aims: 1. 2021: Proposed launch of Phase 2 of UK SMR design development. 2. Mid 2020s: Hinkley Point C comes online. 3. Early 2030s: First SMR and AMR demonstrators deployed in the UK. At a virtual workshop the Institute examined this third target by bringing together a range of experts to explore how the UK's past, present and likely future capability can be aligned with international developments to seize this opportunity. The workshop showcased relevant aspects of the UK's nuclear heritage from those who were there, including Andy Sherry and Juan Matthews (Manchester University), Susan Ortner (NNL), and John Lillington and John Stairmand (Jacobs).
