Report on Telecom 95: The World's Largest Telecommunications Exhibition and Forum Held in Geneva

The 7th World Telecommunications Exhibition and Forum known as Telecom 95 was held in Geneva, Switzerland for nine days between October 3 and October 11, under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Although Telecom, as the name implies, mainly deals with events having to do with telecommunications, companies such as IBM, DEC and HP have been numbered among the participants at past events. The recent exhibition saw the addition of Intel, Microsoft, Oracle and other computer companies, which further strengthened the computer vendor presence. The entry of computer-related organizations in the telecommunications field provides strong evidence that the convergence of telecommunications and computer technology is steadily progressing. No doubt this will greatly affect the direction information and communications will take in the future.
