Latest Issues Investigated at ITU-T SG2 (Network and service Operation): From SG2 Meeting held in November, 1998

International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector Study Group 2 (ITU-T SG2) has been investigating the "network and service opera- Tion" among the international standardization activities for telecommunications tech- Nologies. The section dealing with Q1 (Question 1) is responsible for setting international Standards for the numbering plan directly visible to customers. This paper introduces the Issues related to IP telephony, which currently draws the most attention, as well as the Issues related to B-ISDN, which is expected to significantly affect future network construc- Tion, among major issues discussed at the ITU-T SG2 meeting held in November, 1998.
