It is shown that slots in a thin conductor may substantially change the phase of the current excited by an incident electromagnetic wave. At a certain slot with, the current amplitude reaches its maximum, which maximizes the scattering cross section. This resonance occurs at an arbitrary rod diameter. In the case of grat- ings, the reflections at resonance frequencies become total for a high geometric transparency. It is shown that the resonance phenomenon depends only slightly on the conductivity of the rod material.
