摘要

A multipass fiber-optic magnetic-field sensor based on the Faraday effect in Bi_(12)GeO_(20) crystals is experimentally studied. The dependences of the conversion and modulation coefficients on the crystal parameters and the magnetic-field strength are presented. It is demonstrated that the residual linear birefringence in a Bi_(12)GeO_(20) crystal, which is related to crystal irregularities, leads to a significant decrease in the sensor's conversion coefficient. It is shown that the experimental data are in reasonable agreement with the results of numerical calculations.
