The attenuation of the coherent intensity of the electromagnetic waves has been studied theoretically and experimentally as a function of the particle volume density in weakly absorbing random discrete media. It is shown that the dependences of extinction coefficients on the particle volume density rho(V) in a two-component medium calculated in the approximation of strong-fluctuation theory are in good agreement with the experimental data obtained for artificial snow-like media in the millimeter-wave band. It has been found that, at the real part of the complex permittivity of the particle material E >' = 2.5-3.15, the extremum of the dependence of the extinction coefficient on the volume density is achieved at rho(V) a parts per thousand 0.3. The volume density of snow-like media proves to be of little significance for the intensity of the volume scattering on the interval of volume density rho(V) = [0.2-04].
